The first training session was held from October 20th to 22nd for 20 participants, including 9 women, representing State institutions among which the Presidency of the Republic, the Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Finance, and several Civil Society Organizations from Guinea-Bissau.

During the three days, topics such as types and styles of leadership, integrity measures and actions, accountability culture, among others, were covered. The training content was supported by the NGO Accountability Lab, and the opening session was held by Dara Fonseca Ramos Fernandes, representing Primatura, by Agostinho Baiem Fande, Director-General of the National School of Administration, and by Jose Malam Jassi, from UNDP.

The Leadership Academy aims to transform Guinea-Bissau by developing a network of leaders who can work together to sustain peace and create a path to long-term inclusive and sustainable development. The training targeted the civil society leaders that have been working together to implement the Common Agenda for Peace and Development as part of the CS Consultation space. The initiative is implemented by UNDP Guinea-Bissau in partnership with ENA, with the support of United Nations Peacebuilding.
