UNDP has partnered with the Guinea-Bissau Industrial Association (AIGB) to conduct a mapping and study of MSMEs in Guinea-Bissau. Over the coming months, close to 4000 enterprises will have been contacted and surveyed nationwide. The study will provide amongst others, key data and characteristics of the business sector, information on how companies operate, and structures in terms of management, and on the different stage of development the companies are in and the challenges they face.

The results of the study will serve to better understand the situation of companies in Guinea-Bissau and thus inform and improve the planning of projects and initiatives to enhance, stimulate and strengthen private sector engagement. This is essential to mitigate the socioeconomic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and provide essential input on how to improve the enabling environment for private sector growth and Guinea-Bissau.

The study is expected to be completed in the fall-2021.
