A training of inspectors from the Ministry of Justice, in the scope of the Peace Building Fund Combatting Drug and Transnational, Organised Crimes project (CDTOC), which aims to improve transparency within the rule of law institutions and, consequently, contribute to mitigating possible cases of corruption took place from the 6th to the 9th of April 2021.

More transparent institutions are stronger institutions in the fight against drug trafficking and transnational organized crimes in the country and are shown to be less vulnerable to the fight against corruption.

Since the early 2000s, Guinea-Bissau has become associated with high levels of illicit activity particularly drug trafficking. The negative impact of transnational organized crime, specially drug and human trafficking and related cross-cutting crimes, corruption and money laundering, has been recognized at the highest level by the Guinea-Bissau authorities, and the fight against it has become a national priority.
